New SF6 sensors for even more precise gas measurement

Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) is often used to insulate high-voltage installations, but is also the most harmful greenhouse gas. smartGAS has developed two new SF6 sensor types to detect and eliminate leaks even earlier than before. They already detect significantly lower gas concentrations than their predecessors.

The two new SF6 sensors of the FLOWEVO series have been specially designed for analysis, leak detection and ambient air monitoring. They are suitable for SF6 gas measurement in the 1000 ppm and 2000 ppm ranges and have been significantly improved in terms of detection limits and linearity compared to earlier versions. smartGAS has optimized the NDIR sensors for use in portable SF6 leak detectors, but they can also be used in stationary gas detectors. The new SF6 sensors have a compact design, have no cross sensitivities to other gases or substances and provide precise and reliable readings at all times, regardless of their position.

The sensors will be presented for the first time at  Sensor + Test 2019 in Nuremberg from 25. to 27. June 2019 and at Sensors Expo in San Jose on 26. and 27. June 2019.
