Leakage Detection in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technology

NDIR gas sensors for refrigerants

In refrigeration and air-conditioning technology, the continuous monitoring of the cooling process is vital. Especially in the foodstuffs industry, refrigerating plants have to function reliably, so the availability of the plants is one of the essential advantages in competition. This is the case during the manufacturing of foodstuffs as well as during the transportation and storage of perishable goods. With our refrigerant sensors from the BASICEVO line, we offer you reliable NDIR technology and therefore the opportunity to optimise operating costs considerably and increase the availability of systems. BASICEVO refrigerant sensors are available as a broadband solution for applications where several refrigerants should be measured with one set-up as well as with sensors specifically calibrated to the target gases for the maximum measurement accuracy.

BASICEVO sensors for refrigerants

BASICEVO – broadband solution for R134a, R125, R404a, R407a, R410a, R448a, R449a, R407f

With the broadband refrigerant sensors, smartGAS offers a solution in which several gases can be measured in one hardware design. The broadband refrigerant sensors are factory calibrated to 2000 ppm R134a, but are also excellent for the measurement of R125, R404a, R407a, R410a R448a, R449a and R407f. By using simple conversion factors, which are can be stored in the gas warning device, the measured values can be corrected for an accurate measurement.

Air-conditioning technology – the F-gas regulation

According to the F-gases directive, leak detection systems for HFC refrigerants must be installed in certain refrigerating plants. The substances used as refrigerants in air-conditioning technology (R22, R134a, R404a, R125, R123, etc.) are almost always extremely harmful for the environment. The installation of a refrigerant gas warning device is therefore indispensable for the prompt detection of gas due to a leak. Our particularly robust and pre-calibrated BASICEVO detects refrigerants and thus gives early indication of a leak.
