FLOW EVO now also measures nitrous oxide (N2O) up to 500 ppm

Nitrous oxide (N2O), known by its trivial name “laughing gas”, is not only used in medicine. It is also used in the food industry as a propellant for spray whipped cream (E 942) or in aerospace technology to oxidise unwanted exhaust gases in rocket engines.



Unfortunately, nitrous oxide also acts as a potent greenhouse gas and is produced, for example, by the use of fertilisers in agriculture. In times of climate change, the reliable monitoring of anthropogenic N2O emission sources becomes all the more important.

smartGAS offers a tailor-made technology for N2O measurement with its reliable non-dispersive infrared absorption (NDIR) sensors for gas analysing. The sensors are not only particularly stable over the long term, but also require little maintenance and have a long service life, so that they guarantee reliable measurement even in remote locations.

The FLOW EVO sensor for nitrous oxide covers the complete measuring range from 0 to 500 ppm with a digital resolution of 1 ppm (parts per mil-lion) and, like all smartGAS gas sensors, is matched to the individual application, pre-calibrated and delivered ready for operation. The detection limit is ≤ 0.6 ppm with a repeatability of ≤ ±2.5 ppm.
