The infra-red gas sensor technology has been the main area of work of Professor Dr. Gerhard Wiegleb. In 1995 he followed a call to the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund to teach his area of expertise, the environmental monitoring, measuring technologies and gas sensor technology. Ever since Professor Wiegleb focused on his activities on the miniaturization of physical gas sensors (IR, UV, TCD) by the use of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS).
In 2002 Professor Wiegleb set up the institut for micro sensors IfM, (today institut for micro sensors & automotive electronics IfM&FE) at the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund, which he is involved in ever since.
Trough the close connection to Professor Wiegleb, the smartGAS Mikrosensorik GmbH is able to fall back to comprehensive experience, which is reflected in the variety of products and the high-quality standards of the young business company.
