The smartMODULFLOW of the smartGAS Mikrosensorik GmbH is now also available in different embodiments for the evidence of ethylene (C2H4). This is to detect the concentration of ethylene in the range up to 2.4 Vol. %. Ethylene is a hormone of plants and plays an important role in the ripening of different fruits as for example apples, bananas or tomatoes. Since the ancient world one has taken advantage of this by bringing together ripe and unripe fruit. The ripe fruit releases ethylene and thereby stimulate the...

Gas sensors based on infrared absorption enjoy a number of important advantages compared to electrochemical and catalytic sensors. As infrared sensors use the property of a gas to absorb infrared radiation at a specific, characteristic wavelength, they are very selective and show virtually no cross-sensitivity to other gases. Furthermore, in contrast to other types of gas sensors, infrared sensors tend not to be discernibly susceptible to ageing.
SmartGAS Mikrosensorik GmbH has adopted the product line of the natural and Serinus CO2 sensor moduls that formerly were produced and distributed by PerkinElmer Optoelectronics.
The sensor element is housed in an aluminium cuvette. Especially for procedural applications this configuartion provides significant advantages. Herewith higher measurement accuarancy can be achieved.
Heilbronn/Zurich, August 2008. - PEWATRON, a leading distributor of sensors, power supplies and e-components have signed a distribution agreement with smartGAS Mikrosensorik GmbH, a developer and manufacturer of innovative infrared gas sensors.
